Super Welcome To Graphic Wonderland.

Super Welcome To Graphic Wonderland - Produced and Edited By Thomas Bruggisser and Michel Fries/ Die Gestalten Verlag GmbH, Berlin, Germany, 2003.

And indeed it was a super welcome. I saw this book at the top most shelf [which I couldnt reach] of the Graphic Design section at Elam Library [which is an amazing library I wish I lived there] The thing that attracted me to the book was its colour, which is the same colour as the bottom of my Nike Air Force 1's. BRIGHT FLURO GREEN. The colour burnt my eyes!! I swear if I showed it to you, you would fall over. As well as the attractive colour of the book another thing attracted me to it, which was the cut out stencil style of the title of the book. And what makes it better is that inside theres like 33 pages of the fluro green colour with artists Graphic Design work and some text writen by the artists, some of its in German so I can't understand it.
In the rest of the book it varies between text and graphic design. I could look at this book for hours, theres so much amazing design work in this book, and any type of Graphic Design you could imagine, from grunge to eclectic to geometric, to Art Noveu. Which is another reason why I like the book because of its variety. I especially like the work that incorporates text and graphic design, because the relationship between text and image interests me alot. I like to see how the text behaves and relates to the image along with it. Or I like to see work with just text in it, I like to see if the text forms an image, and even if the artist has played with the formation of the text to produce something witty and smart and attractive to the viewer.

  2. Thanks Kerrie another good entry. cruising the shelves looking for eye-candy can be a very useful search strategy. You are a visual artist so it makes sense that you discover and respond to things through and because of the visual. There is a considerable amount written and published on the relationship between image and text. An interesting journal in the MSVA library even though it is quite academic is titled Visible Language and might be useful. The other great source is good magazine stores. cheers, Grant
